Glen Mills, PA Propane

Glen Mills is an unincorporated community in Concord Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It’s about 27 miles from Philadelphia, and it was actually a part of the original land grant given to William Penn in 1681. The first settler of Glen Mills was a man named George Cheyney, and a town nearby Glen Mills was named after him. The name Glen Mills comes from two paper mills built in 1835 and 1846 by the Wilcox family. While the original Glen Mills aren’t working in today’s day and age, the grist mill from 1704 is still standing as a beautiful historic picnic gathering. The grist mill was built by Nathaniel Newlin, and in 1975 there was a blacksmith’s shop built on the premises which came to be known as the Newlin Mill Complex. The Newlin Mill Complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1983.

Glen Mills is also home to The Golf Course of Glen Mills, which was designed by Bobby Weed. It’s connected to the Glen Mills Schools and is used to train students in the operations of golf courses and management of the turf. Where there is now a retirement center in the community, there used to be a “wild west” themed restaurant. It was called The Longhorn Ranch, and after it’s closing in the 1980s, it was replaced by a nightclub called Pulsations.
